RAGGATEK Roots . . .

CANOE aka WAGON BURNER is the beat machine behind RAGGATEK Recordings!! Canoe's known for his heavy hip hop/techno/blues influence in production. His roots stem way back into the early 80's,listening to hip hop, breakdancing with kids in school and at a local pool. He bought his first 7" vinyl record, which was Midnite Star's "Freak-A-Zoid". In 1986 his mom bought him his first tape which was Run DMC's 'Raising Hell, since then he's been hooked! The love of basslines has paved his path into break dancing, graffiti, underground parties, DJing (1995), Music Production(1997), Zen Beats Records, touring over seas, "DEBRIS MEETS THE SEA" album release, several digital releases, hosting radio shows and creating Raggatek Recordings!

Rewind to 1999, CANOE opened a record store called ZENBEATS in Whittier, California. The underground rave scenes and independant record shops were live and thriving. Zenbeats supplied the latest and most wanted drum and bass/jungle, hip hop and break beat vinyl records, CD's, graffiti/art supplies, glass pipes and bongs. Zen Beats not only catered to the underground culture, Zen Beats was a big part of this culture. Zenbeats threw various in-store performances supporting and promoting numerous local artists such as BUS DRIVER, MYKAH 9, NEILA, AWOL, JEDI MIND TRICKS, 2MEX, XOLOANXINXO, GIANT PANDA, ABSTRACT RUDE, ABSTRACT RUDE, ACID REIGN, R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC, CRS? and APX1. The store was painted by legendary MEAR ONE and the artwork itself made it onto a DJ RECTANGLE battle record!! During this time, ZENBEATS also released FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIPS "SHOCKADOOM E.P."

CANOE organized the Roots and Bass tour, which featured CANOE and EXGIRL on a seamless 2x4 turntable jungle routine with classic hip hop and reggae cuts. About 6 months later, CANOE and EXGIRL were asked back to tour Europe again and this marked the bass pumping, party rocking NATIVE RESISTANCE TOUR taking CANOE, EXGIRL and DIRECT FEED into the blue skies of BALTIMORE, MD; EAST VILLAGE, NY; DEPANNE, BELGIUM; BRUSSELS, BELGIUM; AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS; GENT BELGIUM; VIENNA AUSTRIA, OLOMOUC, CZECH REPUBLIC AND JILHAVA, CZECH REPUBLIC!!!! While in Belgium, they were booked alongside R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC's Black Magic Tour at DJ Meche's Hardcore Junglism party and they laid a Los Angeles beat down on the decks! Raggatek released RUDEBOY SHUFFLE internationally on vinyl and digitally released a numerous amount of tracks like GLITCH HOP DUB, BLACK HISTORY MONTH REMIX, L.A. DUBSTEP, SOUND CLASH WEAPON 420 produced by DIRECT FEED and SIX FOOT UNDA along with BAD SOUND produced by DIRECT FEED. After co-hosting Earth Science Radio, CANOE partnered up with EXGIRL (Positive Energy) and started LOS MARIJUANOS RADIO broadcasting worldwide from Los Angeles, every Monday night for 2.5 years featuring jungle and live Hip Hop. LOS MARIJUANOS RADIO quickly became well known in the underground DJ scene and had listeners world wide tuned in every week! From R.A.W. aka 6BLOCC, to CAPITAL J to DJ VADIM to DUDLEY PERKINS, GEORGIA ANNE MULDROW, DJ MECHE, APX1, DJ XIST, JAHWY, J. DANKWORTH, ABEL of STACKS RECORDS, DIRECT FEED and the GONEJAH MEN CREW, CANOE and EXGIRL had some of the sickest and hardest working producers, DJ's and MC's bless the decks.
